It was a place where I could share my own values and what I believe in, and to be heard. It helped me to find a voice, to learn more and care more about women’s issues, and to be open to others’ perspectives. The paved road ends and at a right angle turn. My experience with Entrust Youth helped shape that choice. SPECIAL DIRECTIONS Take the Blue Mountain Road that begins across the Bitterroot River south of Missoula on Highway 93. I was accepted to Barnard Women’s College, I start this fall. Everyone has their own experiences and questions, and being in a group where talking about sex is normalized, it helps to empower young adults to be in control of their own choices about sexual activity and health. I think what makes it effective is that it’s students relating to other students. We worked to provide peer-led, inclusive sex-ed in schools and we built a website with all kinds of resources about sexual health for everyone. Our small group evenings give you a chance to spend more time at the telescope and more time hearing from our astronomers.
We’re a group of high school students who provide fact-based, nonjudgmental information about sexual health. Up close and personal, the night sky at Blue Mountain Observatory will bring the stars to you. I was a part of Entrust Youth for two years.

Even when summer days are hot in Missoula, it can get quite cold on the mountain. Enjoy free breakfast, free WiFi, and free parking. Bring with you to your appointment, email to, or fax to 40. Our observatory is located at an elevation of 6,300 feet. Download, print and fill out ahead of time.To ensure these events remain safe and family-friendly, NO ALCOHOL is allowed.Parking on the summit ridge is limited and we encourage guests to carpool whenever possible.

If you are unsure where to park, how to get to the observatory or have any other questions, the intern will be happy to help you out.
Please park so that you DO NOT block the road. Early in the night, there will be a student intern stationed in the parking area near the fire lookout.See our Directions Page for accurate driving directions before you head out. There are a few spots that are a bit narrow for passing and have steep drop-offs, so please drive carefully and respect the fact that you will be sharing this back-country road with many other Blue Mountain guests. The dirt road tends to develop a washboard surface but is passable to all cars all the way to the fire lookout. For most people, the drive to the top of Blue Mountain takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour from downtown Missoula.To ensure a safe and enjoyable night for everyone, please be aware of the following:
